Layton faced Lehi in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Pioneers who were credited with the victory. The Lehi Pioneers got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to the Layton Lancers' one. Layton's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Layton's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Lehi, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

Looking ahead, Layton will look to defend their home pitch on Thursday against Lone Peak at 3:30 p.m. As for Lehi, they will venture away from home to take on Corner Canyon at 3:30 p.m. on September 4.
