Preview: McLean vs. The Heights
McLean's's road trip will continue as they head out to face The Heights at 5:00 p.m. on December 19th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, McLean took a serious blow against Georgetown Day, falling 86-42. McLean was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-22.
Despite the defeat, McLean got a solid performance out of Eros Marchello, who scored 25 points along with four steals. Marchello scored a full 59.5% of McLean's points, the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. William Marks was another key contributor, scoring four points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to The Heights, who are still winless after their fifth game. They fell 71-62 to Seton last Tuesday. While losing is never fun, The Heights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 146th in Maryland, while Seton is ranked 23rd in Virginia).
McLean's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-8. The Heights' record now sits at 0-5.
McLean came up short against The Heights in their previous matchup back in February of 2020, falling 63-55. Can McLean avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
