Softball Recap: Marshfield Comes Up Short

Marshfield dropped their record down to 12-9 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 13-0 to the Stevens Point Panthers. The game marked the first time this year in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

As for Stevens Point, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-6. Considering they have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Stevens Point's part, the team relied heavily on Aubree Itzen, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Abundiz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Marshfield will take on rival Wausau East at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Stevens Point is set to square off against their familiar foe Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 3.2, the Red Raiders 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
