Baseball Recap: Jim Thorpe's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Jim Thorpe was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Panther Valley on Friday. The Olympians were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Panthers. Considering the Olympians' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Brody Schrantz and Cole Lazorick did most of the damage at the plate: Schrantz went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Lazorick went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Schrantz a new career-high. Noah Pastor was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Jim Thorpe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Panther Valley only posted an OBP of .286.

Jim Thorpe moved to 6-9 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Panther Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Coming up, Jim Thorpe will face off against Palmerton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Panther Valley, they will host Williams Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
