Volleyball Recap: Lamar Tigers vs. Monett Cubs
Lamar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monett Cubs. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cubs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Lamar started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 15-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-18.
Lamar lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rowan Parks, who had six digs and 13 assists.
Even though they lost, Lamar kept the net locked down and finished the game with 14 blocks. That's the most blocks they've posted in their last 14 games.
Monett was led to victory by Sarah Negre and Carsyn Goetz. Negre had 13 digs and four aces, while Goetz had 14 digs and three aces. Goetz is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in the last four games she's played dating back to last season.
Lamar's loss dropped their record down to 15-14-2. As for Monett, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8-2 record this season.
As of now, neither Lamar nor Monett have any future games scheduled.
