Baseball Game Preview: Signal Mountain Eagles vs. Loudon Redskins

The Signal Mountain Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Loudon Redskins at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Signal Mountain beat Cleveland 5-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Loudon got themselves on the board against Sequoyah on Tuesday, but Sequoyah never followed suit. They didn't even let the Chiefs on the board, marking their second-straight 10-0 shutout.

Not much got past Logan Moore, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Sequoyah off the board. Moore has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caden Ridings, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Loudon's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 7-12 when he doesn't). Parson Brown also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Signal Mountain's record now sits at 12-7. As for Loudon, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-13.

Signal Mountain took their win against Loudon in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
