Baseball Recap: Houston County Takes a Loss

Houston County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 14-4 to the Camden Central Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Fighting Irish of the 15-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Houston County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Powell, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Powell is becoming a predictor of the Fighting Irish's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-12 when he doesn't).

Houston County's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Camden Central, their record is now 8-13.

Looking ahead, Houston County will welcome McKenzie at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Camden Central will be paying especially close attention to the Fighting Irish's matchup: after the Fighting Irish face off against the Rebels, they'll take on Camden Central again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
