Concordia Lutheran's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Incarnate Word Academy as Concordia Lutheran made off with a 10-0 victory. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Crusaders this season.
Emily Rivera was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Rivera was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Taryn Ward was a standout: she scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Keiper, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
Concordia Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Incarnate Word Academy only posted an OBP of .348.
Meanwhile, St. Pius X was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of St. John XXIII. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since February 16, 2024.
Celeste Reed 2028 was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Sophie Van Wallaghem 2028, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
The win got Concordia Lutheran back to even at 4-4-1. As for St. Pius X, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7-2.
