Baseball Game Preview: Minerva Lions vs. Edison Wildcats

The Minerva Lions will head out to challenge the Edison Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Minerva hasn't scored more than two runs for four games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Minerva's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Alliance hitters got past them. The Lions lost 12-2 to the Aviators on Wednesday.

Minerva saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brennan Barnes, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Edison's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They came up short against Indian Creek, falling 9-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since April 23, 2024.

Minerva now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Edison, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.

Minerva came out on top in a nail-biter against Edison in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
