Basketball Game Preview: Casey-Westfield Warriors vs. Charleston Trojans

The Casey-Westfield Warriors will face off against the Charleston Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Casey-Westfield saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came up short against Cumberland, falling 54-34. The Warriors have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite their loss, Casey-Westfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lucy Moore, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 38.2% of Casey-Westfield's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Julia Eckerty, who had 11 points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, Charleston can finally bid farewell to their 17-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 53-38 win over Jacksonville. The Trojans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Charleston's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-14. As for Casey-Westfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Casey-Westfield was dealt a bruising 73-40 loss at the hands of Charleston in their previous meeting back in November of 2014. Can Casey-Westfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
