Baseball Recap: Shasta Falls Short of Pleasant Valley in the Playoffs

Shasta and Pleasant Valley squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Shasta had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 5-4. The Wolves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 8-1.

Jack Dehn was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Shasta saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Marshall, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Shasta has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-13 record this season. As for Pleasant Valley, they now have a winning record of 15-14.

Shasta does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pleasant Valley, they will face off against Chico at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
