            It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lincoln can now relate to. They fell just short of the Pleasant Grove Eagles by a score of  13-11 on Wednesday. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won  8-3.
Lincoln got a good showing from  Cooper Conklin, who   tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off   one  hit. Conklin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  a single  walk in three consecutive appearances.

 On the hitting side,  Dylan Patten and  Brady Dobson did some serious damage despite the final result:  Patten  got on base  in four of his five plate appearances with two  runs and two  RBI, while  Dobson  went 2-for-4 with three  RBI, one  stolen base,  and one  double. Lincoln is 5-1 when  Patten posts two or  more  runs, but 11-12 otherwise.
This is the second loss in a row for Lincoln and  nudges their season record down to 16-13. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 20-7 St. Mary's (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67.4% over those games). As for Pleasant Grove, the  victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-11.
 Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pleasant Grove, they will challenge St. Mary's at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.1  runs per game this season.
