Volleyball Recap: Dove Creek Comes Up Short

Dove Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Moffat County. Dove Creek was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Moffat County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Dove Creek's offense was headlined by Hadley Hatfield and Mykaela Fury, who picked up two kills apiece. They got some help from Kaybree Smith and her four assists. Hatfield was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Dove Creek's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Moffat County, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dove Creek will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Mancos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Moffat County, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Steamboat Springs at 6:00 p.m. on September 2.
