Football Recap: Rockingham County Falls Short of Dixon in the Playoffs + How To Watch

Rockingham County and Dixon squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Rockingham County had to settle for second. They took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (44), the Cougars still had to take the loss.

Luke Strittmatter and James Thomas certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Strittmatter threw for 292 yards and five touchdowns, while Thomas picked up 201 receiving yards and four scores. Strittmatter also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Rockingham County is 4-2 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise. Malachi Bryant handled things on the ground, rushing for 82 yards.

JJ Gulat was his usual excellent self, rushing for 429 yards and seven TDs while picking up 11.9 yards per carry for Dixon. Gulat's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 17th straight game with at least 103 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Rockingham County moved to 5-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Dixon, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-5 record.

As of now, neither Rockingham County nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
