Baseball Game Preview: Lebanon Warriors vs. Corvallis Spartans

For the second straight game, Lebanon will face off against Corvallis. The Warriors will face off against the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lebanon has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight defeats, while Corvallis will come in with five straight wins.

Lebanon had taken Corvallis down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Warriors fell 6-1 to the Spartans. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 24, 2019, but that streak is no more.

For Corvallis' part, Roy Bannister made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Bannister was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Axel Prechel was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Ben Weiss was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two RBI.

Corvallis hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive contests.

Corvallis' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Lebanon, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
