Basketball Recap: Dylan Johns' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Leetonia over Southern

Leetonia lost against Southern back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Leetonia Bears received a blow as they fell 68-49 to the Southern Indians. The Bears were down 52-32 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Leetonia's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Johns, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 20 points. What's more, Johns also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Carson Brock was another key player, putting up 16 points and six boards.

Leetonia has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Southern, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

Leetonia has already played their next game (against Wellsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Southern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-49 defeat against David Anderson on the 25th.
