Baseball Recap: Northeastern Now 10-1 over Last 11 Games

Northeastern had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt West York Area on Thursday. The Bobcats were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Bulldogs. Considering the Bobcats have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Drew Barshinger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Derek Gross and Ryan Wilson did most of the damage at the plate: Gross went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Wilson went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Charleston, who went 1-for-4 with two runs.

Northeastern is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for West York Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Northeastern has already played their next contest, a 9-1 victory against Kennard-Dale on the 10th. As for West York Area, they will square off against South Western at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
