Softball Game Preview: Pine Valley Central Panthers vs. Silver Creek Black Knights

Pine Valley Central is 0-10 against Silver Creek since June of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Black Knights at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Pine Valley Central barely beat Brocton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Bulldogs 10-4 on Tuesday. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Madilynn Robertson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carlie Ward, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Brooke McCoy was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pine Valley Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Silver Creek posted their closest win since May 15, 2025 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 victory over Gowanda. The win continues a trend for the Black Knights in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Silver Creek's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Pine Valley Central, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Pine Valley Central suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Silver Creek when the teams last played on April 14th. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
