Palmetto hasn't had much luck against Coral Reef recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Panthers will take on the Barracudas at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Palmetto is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Coral Gables get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Lauren Falls was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
In other batting news, Maddie Baldwin was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Kaitlyn Nanan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Coral Reef never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against South Dade on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Buccaneers with a sharp 16-0 win.
Palmetto's record now sits at 12-8. As for Coral Reef, their record is now 16-5-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Palmetto has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Coral Reef struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Palmetto suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Coral Reef in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
