Baseball Recap: Nicholas County Wins Going Away Against Oak Hill

Nicholas County barely beat Oak Hill the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Grizzlies blew past the Red Devils 15-2 on Wednesday. Considering the Grizzlies have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Nicholas County got a big performance out of Caleb Burns, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Burns a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Colton Burkhammer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Burns wasn't the only one making solid contact: Nicholas County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Hill only managed five hits.

Nicholas County now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Oak Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nicholas County will venture away from home to square off against Woodrow Wilson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Flying Eagles have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Oak Hill, they will head out on the road to challenge George Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Red Devils surely won't give up without a fight.
