Volleyball Recap: Rihanna Brooks' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Red Mountain over Mountain View

After flying high against Chandler on Wednesday, Red Mountain came back down to earth. The Mountain Lions fell just short of the Mountain View Toros by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Mountain Lions' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Red Mountain sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 26-24, 12-25, 25-22, 13-25, 16-14.

Red Mountain's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rihanna Brooks, who had 36 assists and seven digs. Brooks is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last 11 games she's played. Ella Sullivan was another key player, getting 19 digs and four assists.

Red Mountain's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 19-14. As for Mountain View, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

Red Mountain and Mountain View will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Mountain Lions see the court they'll take on Mesa at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th. As for Mountain View, their break will end when they face Dobson at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th.
