Softball Game Preview: Eastern Wayne Warriors vs. Princeton Bulldogs

Eastern Wayne is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Princeton Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Eastern Wayne is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs last Tuesday, they were much more limited against American Leadership Academy-Johnston on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 2-1. The loss was the Warriors' first of the season.

Hannah Lee made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Princeton started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Hobbton. They came up short against the Wildcats on Thursday, falling 21-13. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Caroline Waller was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and one triple. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Madison Mitchell, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Princeton's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Eastern Wayne, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Eastern Wayne was able to grind out a solid win over Princeton when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. Will Eastern Wayne repeat their success, or does Princeton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
