Softball Recap: Tumwater Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

It's playoff time, and Tumwater had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Nathan Hale Raiders on Friday. Considering the Thunderbirds have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ella Ferguson made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Zoe Fields was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marissa La Praim, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Tumwater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nathan Hale only posted an OBP of .200.

The victory (which was Tumwater's sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Nathan Hale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-14.

As of now, neither Tumwater nor the Raiders have any future games scheduled.
