Baseball Game Preview: Laguna Beach Breakers vs. Foothill Knights

The Laguna Beach Breakers will challenge the Foothill Knights at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Laguna Beach 1.9, Foothill 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Laguna Beach saw some tournament action on Monday. They came out on top against Crean Lutheran by a score of 5-1.

Lucien Reed made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Laguna Beach got a great performance from Jake Martinez as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched.

Back at the plate, Dylan Yencho was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Dane Jenal also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Foothill didn't have quite enough to beat Woodbridge on Monday and fell 3-2. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Foothill also got a good showing from Grady Wright, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Gavin Lauridsen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Laguna Beach's victory bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Foothill, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Laguna Beach has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Foothill struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits.
