Basketball Recap: Lyons Lions vs. Loveland Classical Lions

Fans were treated to a battle of the Lions on Tuesday. Lyons came out on top against Loveland Classical by a score of 50-40. For Lyons, this counts as revenge for the 74-59 win Loveland Classical walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

Jake Lacrosse had a dynamite game, going 9-for-17 to rack up 25 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Those 25 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Newell, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 15 boards.

Despite the defeat, Loveland Classical saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lincoln McFadden almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds. Sean Schaut was another key player, putting up seven points along with seven boards and three steals.

The victory got Lyons back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Lyons will face off against Byers at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. As for Loveland Classical, they will challenge Caprock Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
