Recap: Jackson Red Devils vs. Lamar County Trojans
This season hasn't been kind to the Jackson Red Devils, who are still winless after their sixth contest. They received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 61-45 to Lamar County. Jackson was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lamar County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Defeat or not, Jackson got some senior leadership from Josh Goodrum who scored 12 points and Ziggy Benton who scored eight points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Benton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Roberts, who scored eight points.
Jackson's defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points per game. As for Lamar County, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Jackson will head out on the road to face off against Social Circle at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Social Circle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. As for Lamar County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Mary Persons at 8:30 p.m. Hopefully Mary Persons focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday.
