Volleyball Recap: Torrington Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Anna Slate and Piper Robinson

Torrington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Waterbury Career Academy Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Torrington started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-12.

Torrington's loss came despite strong showings from Piper Robinson and Anna Slate. Robinson had eight digs and two aces, while Slate had four digs, three aces, and one block.

Torrington's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Waterbury Career Academy, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Torrington is set to take on their familiar foe Oxford at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Waterbury Career Academy will square off against rival Kennedy at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
