Softball Game Preview: Alhambra Lions vs. Metro Tech Knights

The Alhambra Lions will challenge the Metro Tech Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Alhambra is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 24 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against McClintock on Friday. They lost 17-2 to the Chargers.

Alhambra saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aliyah Carranza, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Even though they lost, Alhambra was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Metro Tech came up short against Fairfax on Thursday, falling 29-19. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maria Mada made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Joselyn Morales, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Alhambra's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Metro Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Alhambra came out on top in a nail-biter against Metro Tech in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, sneaking past 7-5. Will Alhambra repeat their success, or does Metro Tech has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
