After a string of six wins, Mountain Brook's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to the Vestavia Hills Rebels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-34 back in January.

Leading Vestavia Hills to victory were Ella Grace Stricklin and Marley Cowan. Stricklin dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards, while Cowan went 5-for-7 on her way to 10 points and eight rebounds. Those 12 boards gave Stricklin a new career-high. Olivia Hunsberger was another key player, putting up eight points.

Mountain Brook's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Vestavia Hills, they have been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season.

Mountain Brook wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-39 win against Southside on the 13th. As for Vestavia Hills, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 42-29 victory against Hewitt-Trussville on the 11th.
