Softball Recap: Clairemont Has No Trouble Against Olympian

Clairemont was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Olympian on Friday. The Chieftains put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 11-1 win. With that victory, the Chieftains brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Gigi Villalpando tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Camryn Walton was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Elliana Morrison also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Clairemont's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Olympian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8-1 record this season.

Clairemont wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 4-3 victory against Mira Mesa on the 15th. As for Olympian, they have also already played their next contest, a 5-2 win against Ramona on the 12th.
