Softball Recap: Williamstown Comes Up Short

If Williamstown was riding high fresh off their 17-2 takedown of Webster County on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Yellowjackets took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Harrison Hawks on Thursday. The Yellowjackets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 17-16.

Shayle Montgomery made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Williamstown has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for South Harrison, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.

Looking ahead, Williamstown will venture away from home to square off against Nitro at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.55 runs per game on average), something the Yellowjackets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South Harrison, they will host Elkins at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
