Softball Game Preview: Platt Panthers vs. Newington Nor easters

Platt is 0-4 against Newington since May of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Nor easters at 3:45 p.m. Platt has given up an average of 20.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Platt lost 16-4 to Lewis Mills on Friday.

Platt saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrienne McDonald, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Newington fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Berlin on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 8-5 to the Redcoats. The Nor easters haven't had much luck with the Redcoats recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Aniyah Ross was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Maiya Simpson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Platt's record is now 2-14. As for Newington, their record now sits at 1-4.

Newington's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Platt has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .472. It's a different story for Newington, though, as they've only averaged .322. Will they be able to contain Platt's hitters?

Platt might still be hurting after the 18-6 loss they got from Newington in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
