Basketball Game Preview: Johnson Pumas vs. Butler Lynx + Official Tickets

Johnson is 2-8 against Butler since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Pumas will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lynx at 5:30 p.m.

On Monday, Johnson ended up a good deal behind Hansberry and lost 53-35.

Despite their loss, Johnson saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Adriene Collier, who posted seven points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Cye'Royal Crump, who earned six points.

Meanwhile, Butler took their matchup on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 61-23 win over UIC College Prep. The Lynx haven't had any issues with the Firecats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Butler had a senior duo take command as Julius Hamlin Jr shot 71% from the field en route to 12 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists and Lemar Williams almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. Those 71% field goal percentage set a new season-high mark for Hamlin Jr. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Ticer, who put up nine points and six steals.

Butler was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

The win got Butler back to even at 2-2. As for Johnson, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
