Softball Game Preview: Sayre Redskins vs. Sugar Valley Rural Phoenix

The Sayre Redskins will face off against the Sugar Valley Rural Phoenix at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sugar Valley Rural took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sayre, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with 12 losses in a row, Sayre turned things around against Sullivan County on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Griffins by a score of 13-9. The high-scoring effort was just what the Redskins needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Meanwhile, Sugar Valley Rural came up short against Shamokin Area on Monday, falling 15-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Phoenix in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost five in a row.

Sugar Valley Rural saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Herlocher, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. Lyla Breon was another, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Sugar Valley Rural's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Sayre, their victory bumped their record up to 2-16.
