Baseball Game Preview: New Plymouth Pilgrims vs. Parma Panthers

The New Plymouth Pilgrims are taking a road trip to square off against the Parma Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. New Plymouth is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.

On Saturday, New Plymouth came up short against Payette and fell 6-2. The Pilgrims have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

New Plymouth saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marcus Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Parma came up short against Homedale on Saturday, falling 20-2. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Kaden Cole and Samuel Hultman stepped up to the plate in a big way. Cole went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Hultman went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Cole is becoming a predictor of Parma's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 5-11 when he doesn't).

New Plymouth's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Parma, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

New Plymouth came out on top in a nail-biter against Parma when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 11-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pilgrims since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
