League recap: Malone's Sikes delivers best pitching performance from past week

1A District 1 league recap: 3/27/13

Jonathan Sikes was the top pitcher in 1A District 1 this week, leading Malone. Over the past week, he racked up one win and 11 strikeouts.

Austin Jordan was the hottest hitter in the league this week, racking up a .700 average with six RBIs. Bethlehem compiled a record of 0-4 in that time.

Central continues to keep batters at bay this week, surrendering only four hits in the past week, good for best in the league. For the entire year, the Jaguars have given up only 14 base hits in seven games.

The top hitter in the league this week was the Wildcats' Jordan, who ranked ahead of all other players in average, hits and runs batted in. Jordan feasted on opponents pitching with a .700 average and six RBIs thanks to seven hits.

With four runs batted in this week, the Tigers' Brett Henry increased his league-leading total in that category to 19.



Henry was an RBI machine on Tuesday, as he knocked in four runs during Paxton's 10-9 win over Malone. He went 2-for-4 and scored one run.

The Tigers' Sikes struck out 11 Bethlehem hitters en route to a 4-2 victory on March 21. Over his seven innings pitched he allowed two runs on three hits.
