Preview: Davis Darts vs. Clearfield Falcons
Davis is 9-1 against Clearfield since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Davis Darts will head out on the road to face off against the Clearfield Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Clearfield took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Davis, who comes in off a win.
Even though California scored an imposing 60 points on Saturday, Davis still came out on top. Davis took their match against California 67-60. Given Davis' advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 50th in Utah, while California is ranked 365th in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ike Morgan, who scored 21 points along with seven assists and three steals. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Coleman Atwater was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Clearfield's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 67-53 bruising from Weber. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Clearfield in their matchups with Weber: they've now lost three in a row.
Davis is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Clearfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Davis and Clearfield were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February, but Davis came up empty-handed after a 52-51 defeat. Can Davis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
