Softball Recap: Lakeview Picks Up Eighth Straight Win on the Road

Lakeview's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over Poland Seminary. Lakeview might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.

Ava Bacon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Kennedy Bartlett was incredible, firing off two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April. Kalyssa Werner was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lakeview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 12 consecutive games.

Lakeview pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Poland Seminary, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.

Lakeview has already played their next contest (against Howland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Poland Seminary, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-10 loss against Mathews on the 16th.
