Volleyball Recap: Hesperia Scorpions vs. Serrano Diamondbacks

Hesperia was the 3-0 winner over Serrano when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Scorpions fell just short of the Diamondbacks by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. While the Scorpions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Diamondbacks 25-21 in the first set.

Hesperia took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-18, 15-12.

Victoria Parra paced Hesperia's offense, picking up 23 kills. Parra got some help from Dylanna Akwaboah and her 39 assists. Deziree Mendoza controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Serrano's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoey Blanchard, who had 18 digs and five aces. Blanchard is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last four games she's played. Hailey Orozco was another key player, getting nine digs and two aces.

Hesperia's defeat dropped their record down to 25-3. As for Serrano, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-11.

As of now, neither Hesperia nor the Diamondbacks have any future games scheduled.
