The Point Pleasant Big Blacks will head out on the road to face off against the Scott Skyhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Point Pleasant is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Wayne on Wednesday. The Big Blacks came out on top against the Pioneers by a score of 10-6. The Big Blacks haven't had any issues with the Pioneers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Rylann Macknight spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kyla Queen was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Brynn Roush also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Scott got the win against WestSide on Tuesday by a conclusive 14-1. The result was nothing new for the Skyhawks, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Kambri Beard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Beard was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Scott got a massive performance out of Haven Tomblin, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Hailey Capps, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Scott was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as WestSide only posted a batting average of .062.
Scott pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Point Pleasant, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Point Pleasant skirted past Scott 7-6 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Big Blacks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
