Basketball Recap: Thayer Central Titans vs. Sutton Mustangs
After losing to the Sutton Mustangs the last time they met, the Thayer Central Titans decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Thayer Central came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 40-30 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Thayer Central.
Thayer Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Natalie Tietjen led the charge by scoring 12 points along with two steals and two blocks. Tietjen has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Paige Tietjen was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Thayer Central's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Sutton, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
Thayer Central will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Milford will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Sutton, they will head out on the road to square off against the Broncos at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Centennial is ranked 103rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 96th).
