Basketball Game Preview: Dowling Catholic Maroons vs. Waukee Warriors

Dowling Catholic hasn't had much luck against Waukee recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Dowling Catholic Maroons will face off against the Waukee Warriors at 7:45 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Dowling Catholic comes in on four and Waukee on eight.

If Dowling Catholic beats Waukee with 64 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Dowling Catholic came out on top against Urbandale by a score of 64-53 last Friday. Given the Maroons' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the J-Hawks are ranked 187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Waukee earned a 59-51 win over Southeast Polk on Friday.

Dowling Catholic pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Waukee, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.

Dowling Catholic came up short against Waukee when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 59-51. Can Dowling Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
