They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Williams Vikings. For Bagdad, this counts as revenge for the 11-0 defeat Williams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.
Nuvia Jauregui was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Jauregui has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Jauregui was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI.
Jauregui wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anna Williams, who went 1-for-3 with a triple and a run.
On Williams' side, Braydyn Larimore made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Bagdad's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3-1. As for Williams, their loss ended a 20-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 23-6.
