Basketball Recap: Brady Gocke's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Christian Educational Consortium over Pikeville

Christian Educational Consortium has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 64-52 to the Pikeville Panthers on Saturday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-51 two weeks ago.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brady Gocke, who went 5 of 6 en route to 13 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. That's the most points Gocke has posted since back in February. Deven Moore was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Christian Educational Consortium's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Pikeville, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christian Educational Consortium will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Bullitt at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Pikeville will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against Prestonsburg at 3:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
