Recap: Harrison Raiders vs. Anderson Indians

The Harrison Raiders lost against the Anderson Indians back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Harrison fell just short of Anderson by a score of 54-52. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Harrison in their matchups with Anderson: they've now lost four in a row.

Malachi King and Kasen Newton certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. King dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, while Newton scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Newton scored 15 or more points. Carson Cain was another key contributor, scoring five points.

Anderson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Javon Warfield, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Warfield has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Damien King, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.

Harrison's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Anderson, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Harrison won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Merrillville at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. One thing working in Merrillville's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Anderson, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Tippecanoe Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Tippecanoe Valley is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.7 points per game.
