Soccer Game Preview: Shafter vs. Centennial

The Shafter Generals and the Centennial Golden Hawks will compete for holiday cheer at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Shafter is looking to tack another W on to their season record, something they couldn't quite do against Highland on Friday. Neither Shafter nor Highland could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Meanwhile, Centennial hadn't done well against Garces Memorial recently (they were 0-7-2 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Centennial never let Garces Memorial onto the board and left with a 3-0 win. That looming 3-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Golden Hawks yet this season.

They hit Garces Memorial with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ben Alcantar, Hudson McDonald, and Kevin Zapien.

Shafter's draw makes their record 3-4-1 this season. As for Centennial, the victory got them back to even at 5-5-1.

Shafter came out on top in a nail-biter against Centennial when the teams last played back in December of 2022, sneaking past 1-0. Will Shafter repeat their success, or does Centennial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
