Muenster dropped their record down to 25-9-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's 21-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Valley Mills Eagles by a score of 5-4. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 11-4.

Skyler Reed spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lilly Johnson and Addison Aldriedge stepped up to the plate in a big way. Johnson went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Aldriedge went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for Valley Mills, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games.

On Valley Mills' side, Bianka Martinez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Martinez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ezra Busch was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Lacee Engelbrecht was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Muenster beat Valley Mills by a score of 10-8 later that day.
