Clay-Chalkville waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Pinson Valley Indians by a score of 44-33. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Indians are ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clay-Chalkville pushed their record up to 13-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points per game. As for Pinson Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.

Clay-Chalkville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hoover at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hoover knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Clay-Chalkville likes a good challenge. Pinson Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
