Baseball Recap: Greensboro Day School Has No Trouble Against Asheville Christian Academy

Greensboro Day School posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024 on Friday. They blew past the Asheville Christian Academy Lions 10-2. For the Bengals, this counts as revenge for the 4-1 victory the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Trevor Waters and Nick Salas were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Waters struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Salas pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits Waters has allowed since back in March of 2024. At the plate, Waters scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5, while Salas went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The dominant performance gave Waters a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Luke Ray and Oliver Fisher did most of the damage at the plate: Ray scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Fisher went 2-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Travis, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Greensboro Day School now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Asheville Christian Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1.

Coming up, Greensboro Day School will head out on the road to face off against Ravenscroft at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Asheville Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Legion Collegiate Academy at 4:30 p.m. on March 11th.
