Soccer Game Preview: Tatum vs. Carthage

Tatum is 1-9 against Carthage since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tatum Eagles will look to defend their home pitch against the Carthage Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Tatum is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Tuesday. They fell 5-3 to Tenaha.

Abel Aguirre and Martin Sosa scored all three of Tatum's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Carthage was not quite Pine Tree's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They came up short against the Pirates, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 643rd, while the Pirates are ranked 42nd).

Carthage has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Tatum, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
